The most beautiful tourist trips in Granada

Granada's stunning landscapes, Spanish charm, and historical sites attract travelers in droves. The Alhambra is not only the main point of interest in Granada, it is one of the biggest attractions in Spain. Take a stroll through the picture-perfect alleys of the Albaicin district or shop for Moroccan goods at Souk El Hari near the historic center. You'll also want to take advantage of Granada's proximity to the Sierra Nevada National Park, or indulge in one of the city's Arab baths. The most beautiful tourist trips in Granada include a visit to:

Alhambra Palace :

The Alhambra is the jewel of Granada. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located on top of a hill in the city center. The Alhambra is not only the largest tourist attraction in Granada and Andalusia, but it is also one of the most visited places in all of Spain. It attracts a large number of tourists annually, as it boasts a rich history, splendid architecture, and stunning gardens and scenery.

Built between the 13th and 14th centuries by the Moorish Nasrid dynasty (although small parts of it were initially constructed in the 9th century by the previous dynasty), it served as a residence for the royal family. After the conquest of Granada, the Spanish rulers made the Alhambra their own - changing the interiors, and adding other Renaissance-style structures, including an additional palace for Charles V.

Dar Al Hurra Palace :

This elegant and simple Moroccan palace is one of the main architectural attractions of Albaicín. It was the residence of the mother of Muhammad XII (known as Boabdil to the Spaniards), the last Moorish king in Granada. In traditional Moroccan style, its rooms are located on three levels around a central patio and pool, providing shade and coolness in summer. Parts of what were once extensive gardens and orchards also remain.

The Gardens of Carmen de los Martires :

If you're at the top of the hill to visit the Alhambra, don't leave without first walking around the Carmen de Los Martires Gardens, one of the city's most attractive green spaces. With the majority of visitors heading straight for the Alhambra, this beautiful haven of flowerbeds, small ponds, and leafy paths is uncrowded with tourists. In spring and summer, its shaded walkways provide a haven from the strong sun.

Albaicin :

No visit to Granada would be complete without a visit to its oldest neighborhood, the former Arab quarter of Albaicín. This compact network of winding cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and jasmine-scented squares perch on a hillside across from the Darro River from the Alhambra. It takes a little effort to reach the top of the Albaicin, especially in spring or summer. Views of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada Mountains are among its most famous squares.
